I, my husband, and my children have worked diligently to foster our passion for preventative education, reparative work, dialogue, and using therapy to learn and understand the differences amongst one another. More specifically, work regarding the social construct of race. We believe achieving the ultimate goal of unity is through authentic dialogue and acknowledgment of where we are and healing in the diversity, equity, and inclusion spaces.
I am humbled to share that my years of education and training have adept and prepared me for a time like this. I received my Business degrees in International Business and Marketing. Then shortly afterward, I earned my Juris Doctor degree. I intended to work in the courtroom; instead, I took a position in higher education in the niche of conflict resolution—specifically mediation and restorative justice. While building these programs, Title IX and gender equity issues became a primary issue within education. My qualifications make me a legally trained and the primary candidate to lead the charge in Title IX and gender equity. As a result of working in the space, work opened up a whole world of equity and other civil rights-related issues. Now there is no turning back!
I spent the latter half of my career focusing on equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and teaching others about biases. After spending years in higher education, it is an honor to work alongside my best friend (a therapist) in destigmatizing mental health and encouraging healing from known and unknown racial trauma.
When we are not working in the clinic, we are homeschooling our brilliant little leaders, working out, eating good food, or traveling the globe to see people we love!
My life quote that inspires what I do is “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Proverbs 31: 8-9
